FAQs about shipping from Italy
Why does Poste Italiane tracking go silent for over a week?▾
Italy's postal network has historically slow scan-frequency between intake and the destination CMP (Centro di Meccanizzazione Postale). 7-10 days of silence on Poste4 / Posta Raccomandata services is unfortunately routine, especially for southern regions and Sicily/Sardinia. If nothing changes after 21 days, file a reclamo on poste.it.
What does "In transito" mean on BRT?▾
"In transito" on BRT (Bartolini) means the parcel is moving between hubs (Bologna, Milano Smistamento, etc.). The next status to look for is "In consegna" (out for delivery). BRT typically delivers within 24-48 hours of "In transito" for northern Italy, and 2-4 days for the Mezzogiorno.
Will Italian holidays (Ferragosto, Christmas) delay shipping?▾
Absolutely. Ferragosto (August 15) and the surrounding 2-3 weeks see most of Italy's logistics workforce on holiday — expect deliveries from Italy to slow significantly through August. The week between Christmas and Epiphany (Dec 25 – Jan 6) is similar. Plan international orders well outside these windows.
